Pointer-type Outboard Skiff, 16′

This is a one-owner, cedar-planked, white oak-framed, bronze-fastened hull built in 1980 at Oyster River Boatworks in Durham, New Hampshire. It was used for recreational oystering and fishing by the owner who commissioned the build. It hasn’t been in the water for two years and needs sanding and refinishing and some caulking. Fore-deck and side-decks are un-glassed plywood in decent shape – the only plywood in the boat.

Structurally, the boat is stoutly built and well put-together. The only issue I found is the need for a half-dozen short sister-frames down near the keel before too long.

The engine is a 1993 Yamaha 2-stroke 40 hp outboard that I’ve run on hose and muffs.

The trailer is roller-type and is fairly recent.

This could be a really lovely little outfit but it needs an owner familiar with maintaining a traditionally-built wooden boat. It is currently rougher than it appears in photographs.
